Data mart structure
When you open a data mart, you are taken to the configuration screen where you build its structure.
Selecting elements
Elements are selected from fact tables in the current project version:
- Measures (aggregations based on data from fact tables)
- Facts (numeric, countable fields from fact tables)
- Dimensions (grouping fields from fact tables and dimension groups)
Visual structure
The system displays an interactive diagram showing:
- Data mart table
- Contains all selected measures, facts, and dimensions
- Element types are visually distinguished
- Displays the data mart name and description
- Option to open the data mart properties configuration dialog
- Fact tables
- Only fact tables containing selected elements are displayed
- Displayed in a compressed format with the following sections:
- Dimension groups
- Dimensions from fact tables (not placed in dimension groups)
- Facts
- Measures
- Fact table names and descriptions are shown
- Common measures
- Contains measures calculated based on data from multiple fact tables
- Option to view detailed information about each measure
- Connection lines
- Link elements in the data mart to their source in fact tables
- Individual lines can be highlighted
Interactive features
- Zooming: Adjust the viewing scale
- Moving: Drag and drop elements; connections are redrawn automatically
- Details: Click any element to view its RMD properties
- Removing: Deselect elements; if all elements from a fact table are removed, that table disappears from view
Saving changes
- Changes are NOT saved automatically
- Use the "Save" button to commit changes
- A warning appears when attempting to leave without saving
- Collaborative Editing: The last save overwrites previous changes (a warning is provided)
Updating configuration
Configuration does not update automatically when the underlying RMD or fact tables change. Updates occur when:
- The data mart is reopened
- The browser page is refreshed
- Configuration is saved
