Unified read API for all RMD sections

A new version of the public DataForge API (df-api, version v2) gives you one consistent way to read every part of the RMD, so agents and scripts can use the same configuration for all sections instead of being adapted per endpoint. It covers projects, versions, measures, dimensions, facts, dimension groups and dimension group details, fact tables and fact table details, relationships and relationship details, and a combined RMD export. All endpoints that support pagination return the same common response fields for pagination details, and requests are rate-limited per API key (up to 100 requests per minute).

The measures endpoint and the combined RMD export can additionally return generated SQL code for measure formulas together with their assignment to fact tables, requested with the optional include_sql parameter; the SQL is produced by the same procedures the product uses to generate SQL for measure verification in fact tables and the data model. Data type fields are also named unambiguously: each is now either display_data_type or source_data_type depending on which kind of data type it holds, and fields for data types that do not exist for an entity — such as a display data type for facts — are no longer returned.

Improvements

  • On-premises installations can be updated with a single executable file that you download once and reuse for every future update. It downloads the latest deployment package, creates a backup before changing anything, adds new variables to the settings file without touching the values you already set, and replaces the remaining files where they differ. It runs on Windows and Linux, can be started by a double click or from the command line, and does not require administrator rights (IMP-2703)

Architecture

  • Fixed: switching the project version no longer breaks the real-time connection, so the users currently working on the project remain visible in the application header (IMP-2682)

Log in to the system

  • Fixed: password recovery no longer shows an incorrect notification when the entered address does not belong to a user registered in the system (IMP-2715)

Manage columns for RMDs

  • Fixed: newly added options of RMD columns with the Select field type can now be edited (IMP-2669)
  • Fixed: values with a leading or trailing space are no longer excluded from conversion (IMP-2683)

Manage data marts

  • Fixed: sorting on the Data marts and Fact tables screens now works correctly (IMP-2645)
  • Fixed: moving a measure from one fact table to another within the same data mart no longer breaks the data mart (IMP-2718)

Manage data model and fact tables

  • Fixed: sorting and search now work in the "Owner" column on the Fact tables screen (IMP-2660)

Manage fact table details

  • Fixed: mapping a value to a database table no longer produces a mapping to the wrong value in that table (IMP-2697)
  • Fixed: a relationship deleted in a fact table is now removed immediately, so the "Details from RMD" section no longer shows outdated information (IMP-2699)

Manage formulas and SQL scripts

  • Fixed: elements found by search in the formula builder are now highlighted (IMP-2554)
  • Fixed: a measure formula no longer reports a critical error when the connected source of a fact used in the formula is disabled (IMP-2681)
  • Fixed: the notification about a problem with a script is no longer duplicated when you open another script that can be executed (IMP-2721)
  • Fixed: a critical error is now shown in formulas that reference a duplicated measure, dimension or fact name (IMP-2722)

Manage lineage and dependencies for elements

  • Fixed: the extra [Edit] button no longer appears in the header of a derived dimension or fact inside the "View lineage" dialog (IMP-2677)
  • Fixed: clicking [Edit] in the measure header inside the "View lineage" dialog no longer sends the system into an endless loop (IMP-2709)

Manage product data import/export and API

  • Fixed: the "Source data type" value is now returned for the Facts tab and for dimensions when the source is a ClickHouse database (IMP-2531)
  • Fixed: adding and editing certain elements through API requests to data marts now works correctly (IMP-2667)
  • Fixed: warnings no longer appear in correct formulas after clearing a version and importing the project (IMP-2670)
  • Fixed: imported data now matches the actual data in the source Excel file (IMP-2701)

Manage RMD table content

  • Fixed: when a row is duplicated, formulas that use its value are no longer relinked to the lower of the two rows (IMP-2724)
  • Fixed: duplicating rows in the middle of the RMD no longer results in a server error on any tab (IMP-2759)

Manage RMDs

  • Fixed: a comment is now added to the selected cell instead of the cell above it (IMP-2680)
  • Fixed: the green guide line used for resizing rows and columns no longer extends beyond the application window (IMP-2706)
  • Fixed: text alignment in cells with a large amount of text is now preserved after reopening (IMP-2707)
  • Fixed: with filtering enabled in the RMD, selection no longer highlights unrelated areas (IMP-2710)
  • Fixed: after filtering is enabled in the RMD, cells are no longer selected in an unpredictable order when you edit or copy text (IMP-2711)
  • Fixed: the drop-down list of a select cell and the column header menu can no longer be open at the same time (IMP-2712)

Product UI and UX

  • Fixed: the text of the "Start date" and "End date" fields in the "License information" dialog now matches the rest of the application (IMP-2533)
  • Fixed: the extra scroll bar above the script result inside a data mart has been removed (IMP-2541)
  • Fixed: the missing shadows under some buttons above the RMD (IMP-2543)
  • Fixed: the context menu opened with a right click in the RMD no longer extends beyond the application window (IMP-2553)
  • Fixed: values inside dimension groups on the data model canvas are now centred (IMP-2557)
  • Fixed: the colour of headings in dialogs, and of some text inside them, now matches the design guidelines (IMP-2641)
  • Fixed: the size of the "Details from RMD" dialog opened from the "View lineage" dialog in the RMD now matches the design (IMP-2659)
  • Fixed: copying and pasting with Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V now works on the "Fact tables" and "Relationships" tabs of the RMD (IMP-2664)
