Export the complete RMD structure

Exporting the RMD to a file now covers everything you see on the RMD screen: measures, dimensions, facts, dimension groups, fact tables, and relationships are all included, each on its own Excel sheet. This means an exported file is enough to restore the complete RMD configuration after import, with no need to recreate any parts by hand. If a new tab is added to the RMD in the future, its data will be included in exports automatically.

Integrate projects with external version control systems

You can now connect your projects to the version control system your company already uses — for example, GitHub or GitLab — and rely on its capabilities for backing up and merging projects. A new "Export to Git" option in the version switcher exports a project version either as a ZIP file with a Git-friendly folder structure or by pushing directly to a repository through a Git connection, with branch selection, a commit message, and an option to include the RMD change history. The export contains the full project and version configuration as JSON files: metadata, RMD measures, dimensions and facts, dimension groups, fact tables with their metrics and filters, data marts with their settings and filters, connections, and the data model; sensitive data is encrypted, and physical database views, actual data from connected databases, user credentials, and system journal entries are never exported. The matching "Import from Git" option brings a configuration back — from a ZIP file (up to 100 MB) or straight from a Git branch — into an existing project as a new version or as a replacement for an existing one, with file validation, an import preview, and a post-import validation report. Merge commits are detected and processed, so two users can export their versions to different branches, merge them in Git, and import the merged configuration back into the product. All export and import operations are recorded in the System Journal.

Supported platforms: GitHub (Cloud), GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps Repos, and any generic Git server over SSH or HTTPS.

Improvements

  • Dimension groups can now be expanded in data marts without adding individual dimensions: dimension group elements in fact table blocks and in the selection panel have a new "Expand" icon that adds the dimension group block straight to the canvas. The icon is shown only to users who can edit the data mart (IMP-2935)
  • The selection panel in data mart configuration is now more flexible: common measures can be added to a new data mart before adding several fact tables with the JOIN merge type, a dimension group can be added to the canvas without any of its dimensions, and a data mart can be saved with dimension groups on the canvas even if no dimensions were added and no fact tables activated. The merge-type dialog now appears whenever a second fact table is added to the canvas, regardless of which elements were added (IMP-2939)
  • The public Read API now returns the unique identifiers of measures, dimensions, and facts in its responses, including the complete RMD export, so clients can reference these entities in subsequent write operations without extra requests (IMP-2995)

Bug fixes

Manage data marts

  • Fixed: adding and deleting dimensions in dimension groups through the left panel inside data marts now works correctly (IMP-2827)

Manage data model and fact tables

  • Fixed: deleting a fact table no longer removes its elements' links to data marts — measures, facts, and dimensions without dimension groups keep their links (IMP-2919)

Manage fact table details

  • Fixed: changing the name or formula of a measure in the "Edit measure" dialog now takes effect immediately across fact tables, the data model, and data marts (IMP-2913)

Manage formulas and SQL scripts

  • Fixed: when verifying a measure with a filter that includes a dimension from a dimension group, the system now reliably detects the database table (IMP-2930)

Manage product data import/export and API

  • Fixed: on the final import page, the "Dimension groups" tab now uses the full available height instead of cropping the dimension groups into a small container (IMP-2934)
  • Fixed: on on-prem installations, Git connections that authenticate with an SSH key failed with a generic "Failed to test the Git connection" error; SSH connections can now be tested and used for export and import (IMP-3067)

  • Fixed: Undo/Redo actions on the RMD didn't work in some cases (IMP-2905)

Manage RMDs

  • Fixed: after activating filtering in the RMD, the last rows are now selected and deleted in the expected order (IMP-2854)
  • Fixed: an error inside a value name on the RMD tabs no longer breaks row and cell selection after sorting (IMP-2875)
  • Fixed: errors and warnings in text and formula cells are now displayed correctly (IMP-2933)

Manage users and user roles

  • Fixed: the Analyst and Viewer roles now see the [View lineage] and [Open formula builder] buttons in the "Details from RMD" dialog (IMP-2937)
  • Fixed: the Analyst and Viewer roles can now compare versions and export the RMD (IMP-2942)

  • Fixed: new entities are now added to the end of the list instead of being inserted in a random position (IMP-2818)
