Companies

A company is the root organizational unit of the system. It is an isolated space in which users work with projects and analytical objects, so several companies can share one installation without seeing each other's data.

What belongs to a company

Object Notes
Users Every user belongs to a company and has one role in it
Projects Every project belongs to one company, together with all its versions, RMD, fact tables and data marts
License One license per company; it defines the available functionality and the limits on users, projects and versions
IP access lists The whitelist and the blacklist are configured per company
Audit log entries Each company has its own audit records
Connections Database and Git connections belong to the company of the user who created them

Ordinary roles see only the objects of their own company. A Super administrator works across all companies; an Administrator manages users and settings within their own company only. Data sources, Git connections and identity providers are an exception: every role, the Super administrator included, sees and uses only those of their own company.

The company list

Settings → Companies opens the Companies screen, available to a Super administrator.

Column Description
#ID Company identifier
Company name The company name
Number of users How many accounts the company has
Last login date The most recent sign-in of any of its users
License type The type of the applied license
License status The license status, with an icon whose hint explains the state
License end date The end of the license validity period, or a dash when no license is applied
Actions Renaming, opening the details and deleting

Every data column supports sorting and a filter: text or numeric fields for #ID, Company name and Number of users, dropdowns for License type and License status, and date ranges for Last login date and License end date. When nothing matches, the list shows "No companies found".

Creating a company

Only a Super administrator can create a company. The Add company button opens the Add company dialog. It is built the same way as the dialog for adding members to a project: the company name at the top, a list of user rows below it and the Add more button under the list.

Field Requirements
Company name Required, up to 128 characters. Latin and Cyrillic letters, digits, space, dot, hyphen and underscore are allowed; the name cannot start with a special character
User email and User role rows Optional. The first users of the company, one invitation per row. Each row is filled in the same way as in the Add users dialog, described on the user management page, and accepts any role except Super administrator

Working with the rows:

  • The dialog opens with no user rows, so a company can be created without users and its users invited later from Company details
  • Add more adds a row with the Developer role selected; the role can be changed
  • The delete button next to a row removes it, including the last remaining row

Save is unavailable until the company name is valid and every added row is complete and valid. Save creates the company and sends the invitations, if any; the message "Company {name} created successfully" appears. A duplicate name is rejected with "Company with name '{name}' already exists".

Company details

The eye action in a row (or Settings → My company for your own company) opens Company details. My company is available only to a Super administrator and an Administrator; users with other roles who open its address are redirected to the Projects list. The screen contains:

  • The Company name field with the Rename action. Renaming is available only to a Super administrator and is confirmed with "Company {name} changed successfully". An Administrator cannot rename their company
  • The read-only License field, showing the license type and validity period next to a status icon, together with the license action buttons
  • The Company users table, described on the user management page

Renaming a company

A company is renamed with the rename action in the Actions column of the company list or with Rename on Company details. The new name follows the same requirements as on creation: up to 128 characters, only the allowed characters, and no special character at the start. While the name breaks one of these rules, the field shows which rule is broken and the name cannot be saved. A name already used by another company is rejected with "Company with name '{name}' already exists", the same message as on creation; names that differ only in letter case count as the same name.

Deleting a company

Only a Super administrator can delete a company. The base company created when the system is installed cannot be deleted: its delete action is unavailable, and the tooltip "The main company cannot be deleted" explains why.

The delete action asks for confirmation: "Are you sure you want to delete the company? All data related to this company will be permanently lost". After confirmation the message "Company deleted successfully" appears.

All operations on companies are recorded in the audit log.
